Update: Meeting with Adviser

I met with my adviser today to discuss the steps ahead of me. This Friday when I get my paycheck I will be applying for my first passport. After three weeks will come my application for a student visa. For this I may have to drive up to Detroit to fill it out in person at the Italian consulate there. My adviser assured me this is all very straight forward.
She seemed to be impressed with how prepared I already was, and assured me that all the pieces will fall into place quite nicely by the end. Within the next few weeks I will put in my application for the program (through OSU) and then later will give some additional information to Sienaitalianstudies for my housing assignment. I, unfortunately, won't hear back from OSU (to find out if I'm accepted) until a week or two into October. Up until then I will also be applying for any and all scholarships and grants I come across. There's a lot to do from now, but it's starting to get close now. Jan 13 I will depart.

Flying Away!

Flying Away!
It has been months in the making but I have finally realized that my dream to study in Italy next Spring can be accomplished. The loan my mother applied for through my school was approved and now I have the necessary funds to make my trip. I will continue to save money and apply for scholarships (the deadlines of which are in October), but now I have a sufficient backup plan in the case that nothing else goes right. I am going to meet with my study abroad counselor on Friday and will begin my final preparations by applying for a passport and visa. These and the application through the Office of International Affairs are the last big steps in the process.
